Dear Team Managers,
Greetings from the Registration Team of the Hong Kong Debate Open 2013.
As we are a mere four weeks away from HKDO 2013, we are starting the process of gathering participant information from institutions/teams that will be participating in HKDO 2013.

Kindly note that each form can hold the details of only one participant. So, if you are registering one team (two debaters), you will have to submit the Debater Registration Form twice, providing complete details of one debater each time. Please be reminded to key in the same team name in both forms as this is how we will be tracking debaters who will debate together.

REGISTRATION TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT
LIST OF CONFIRMED TEAMS AND TEAMS WITH PAYMENT EXTENSIONS NOW ONLINE
The list of teams that have confirmed participation by wiring the registration fees is now online at https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-KDnJJgIG8ESG5XVlY4NUE3QWM. Teams that have been granted payment extensions can also be viewed at this link.
If there are any discrepancies (the number of teams/judges/observers you have paid for is different from what is listed or your delegation has paid/been granted an extension but this hasn't been recorded), please write ASAP to hkdo2013@gmail.com.
Team Managers of teams that were granted slots in the first phase of allocations and yet haven't wired their rego fees are advised to seek approval from the Registration Team before transferring the money.
Team Managers who volunteered to take up seats available for Phase 2 allocations are advised to halt payment until further notice from the Registration Team.
Teams that have been granted extensions according to the list published herewith may proceed to pay for the specified number of teams/judges/observers.

REGISTRATION TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dear Team Managers,
All Team Managers have been contacted regarding their allocations by August 13, 2013.
Emails to the following institutions have bounced due to incorrect email addresses. We have made announcements on our Facebook Page but the concerned parties haven't communicated to us.

We have been receiving considerable number of clarifications regarding our registration allocations. We will put up a FAQ section very soon to resolve some of the more common queries.

APPOINTMENT OF IMRAN RAHIM AS DCA - HKDO 2013
Dear Asia,
We have yet another delightful news to share with you. Imran Rahim, one of Singapore's outstanding debaters, will be joining the 4th Hong Kong Debate Open 2013 as a Deputy Chief Adjudicator.
Imran is very well-known for his debating achievements. He was the Quarterfinalist in Botswana Worlds 2011 and Octofinalist in Berlin Worlds 2013. He finished Finalist and Best Speaker in Seoul Australs 2011. He was the UADC Champion in Macau 2011, ABP Champion in KL 2010 and WUPID Champion in 2010. He was ranked Best Speaker in UADC Manila 2013, UADC Macau 2011, ABP Dhaka 2011 and ABP KL 2010.
Imran also holds the distinction of having been the Deputy Chief Adjudicator at UT MARA Australs 2013.

HKDO 2013 REGISTRATION BEGINS TOMORROW (26th JUNE 2013)
Dear Asian Debating Family,
At the outset, a big Thank You for the overwhelming interest and encouragement you have shown for the 4th Hong Kong Debate Open 2013 at HKUST. At last count, our Website had over 700 hits, our Facebook page over 280 'Like's and significant activity has been recorded on our Renren (the Chinese equivalent of Facebook) Page as well. Thanks for your support and we are absolutely thrilled to be hosting you this November!
In light of the huge excitement HKDO 2013 has generated, we have decided to launch our registration while #HKDO2013 is still trending. Our Registration Director Andy Herg has been working hard to ensure an earlier-than-planned Registration opening.
We are therefore very pleased to announce that we are pushing forward our Registration Opening from 16th July 2013 to 12:00 AM HKT 26th June 2013.

NEW ADJ. CORE APPOINTMENT
(안녕하십니가) Annyeong!
We are elated to announce the appointment of Seth Jeesoo Kang as a Deputy Chief Adjudicator of HKDO 2013.
Seth is yet another top-notch debater-adjudicator from the Korean debating circuit.
He has been actively debating (read winning tournaments) since 2007. He was the Grand Finalist at the 2012 Indonesian Asian BP Championship, 3rd ESL Best Speaker at Seoul Australs 2011, ESL Champion and 3rd Best Speaker at Auckland Australs 2010, Champion of the KIDA National Championship 2008 and Grand Finalist of NEAO 2007.
Seth also holds the distinction of being the Chief Adjudicator at 2011 KIDA BP Tournament and 2011 KIDA National Championship. Recently, he was ranked the Best and 2nd Best Adjudicator in 2012 and 2013 KIDA National Championship. He has also been a Lecturer/Judge at the Asian Debate Institute.
With the inclusion of Seth, our Adjudication Core comprises of debating legends from Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Japan and South Korea. We, at the HKDO 2013 Org Comm, hope you, as debaters and trainee adjudicators, can benefit from the proven skills and collective experience of our talented, multicultural Adj. Core.

NEW ADJ. CORE APPOINTMENT
(こんにちは) Konnichiwa!
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Yuki Oka as a Deputy Chief Adjudicator of HKDO 2013.
Yuki is an outstanding adjudicator who has been highly successful in the Asian BP Debating Circuit.
He was a Grand Final Judge at UADC 2012, DCA at NEAO 2012, DCA at JPDU Tournament 2013, Sponsored Adjudicator at SMU Hammers 2013 and CA at Debate no Susume 2013 (whoa!).
As a debater, he has won numerous Japanese national tournaments and was Semi-Finalist at ICU Tournament 2013, Quarter-Finalist at Malaysia Debate Open 2013, Quarter-Finalist at HKDO 2012 and Quarter-Finalist at ICU Tournament 2012.
We are convinced that Yuki's formidable experience in adjudicating tournaments will strengthen our Adj. Core and benefit the 200+ debaters and adjudicators attending HKDO 2013.

TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Debaters, Adjs and Team Coaches,
We are proud to announce the dates of the Hong Kong Debate Open 2013.
HKDO 2013 will tentatively be held between 1st - 3rd of November 2013.
This year's HKDO will be organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
Keeping in mind the popularity of previous editions, we have decided to go bigger and better this time. So, the team cap is raised to 80 from the current 68.
As always, we have a star-studded Adj. Core. As of now, we have Loke Wing Fatt, Sharmila Parmanand, TJ and Unmesh Rajendran on the Core (hear, hear!).
Registration and accommodation details are being finalized and will be made public shortly.
